Description

This Edwardian semi-detached house was in need of complete refurbishment to return it back to a single family home.
Previous rear extensions and a convoluted access to the garden were stripped away and the layout re-planned with a large new kitchen extension at the rear. Internal walls were opened up to link the reception and dining rooms through the kitchen into a sequence of spaces focused on the garden, while circulation, a guest WC and a utility room were organised along a second axis. Two long rooflights, one of which wraps down over the rear facade, emphasise these two axes.
On the upper floors, the layout was reorganized to introduce a more efficient circulation. This freed up space for a master suite with dressing room and en-suite shower room, and a second en suite bedroom to the rear. The old loft conversion was completely replaced and the warren of awkward rooms reorganized into two spacious bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The house benefits from generous ceiling heights on all three floors, with over-sized doors throughout.
