Description

Nine Darling is a timeless, yet distinctive multi-residential development, which distinguishes itself through its unique design intent. The building is a light and bright response to the user needs, achieved through a high level of design resolution that establishes a symbolic yet distinct identity. This design which plays on light, form and space was primarily inspired by the works of Swiss abstract painter, Helmut Federle and Japanese Architect Tadao Ando. Consequently the building plays on positive and negative space, which is accentuated through the alternating use of black and white throughout the buildings facade. The building mass is further abstracted by vertical and horizontal cuts into its shell, allowing the building faade to integrate into the streetscape and local context. The sites value within the local community is due to the iconic reception centre which stood previously on the site. This history was referenced throughout the design process including the addition of four palm trees similar to the iconic trees that were previously a part of the streetscape.
