Description

The 2,500 SF renovation of Now Instant Image Hall centered on transforming an empty building into a vibrant space featuring a bookstore, movie theatre, and basement lounge. Situated on Chung King Road in the heart of Chinatown, the building already possessed a unique identity consistent with its surroundings. The design by LOC aimed to enhance the space's uniqueness, introduce more natural light, and craft an immersive theatrical experience. The entrance features large windows and a storefront entry. The green theme is consistently woven into each area, so the spaces flow seamlessly. The green paint serves as a distinctive design element, seamlessly transitioning from the outdoor environment to the indoor spaces throughout. The bookstore features long plywood benches, custom millwork, and a ticketing booth for the theatre. The interiors blend wood elements with green paint, creating a space that's both distinctive and memorable. The 430 SF theater creates a cinematic ambience with moody green walls, floor, and ceiling—an ideal setting for screening artistic stills and short films.
