Description

Los Angeles, CA
2000 SF

This 1950s post-and-beam house was renovated to emphasize its modernist characteristics while making it comfortable for current living. A more expansive sense of space was created on the ground level by eliminating a bathroom, removing walls and exposing the original beams in the ceiling. Larger windows were added in the front and back to connect the interior to the landscape and provide new views of downtown Los Angeles beyond. The project, which creates new indoor and outdoor rooms is a study in openness, simplicity, and light.
