Description

Based in Thirroul in the Northern Illawarra of NSW, this quaint cottage has undergone a number of updates to rectify previous poorly constructed additions, rationalise planning and provide an arrangement better suited to our clients’ lifestyle.

The design plays with volume to create a sense of space, while operability is emphasised to enhance connection both through spaces and to the outdoors beyond.

In broad planning terms, the ground floor scope sees the improved planning yield a separate living space, more functional kitchen and dining taking advantage of the property’s expansive views. The lower ground benefits from a new rumpus and guest suite while improving access to service areas.

Materials are a robust and un complicated mix of timber, concrete and terracotta offset against simple contrasting painted surfaces.
