Tile Apartment

A small home for a newly wed couple designed by one of them.

Located near Praça da Espanha, a bohemian spot in Curitiba, the Tile Apartment was designed to be the first home of one of our partners and his wife.

The main challenge of the project was to find the best layout for the apartment's social spaces, ensuring enough storage space for the couple, without compromising the aesthetics or practicality of everyday life. Therefore, the main intervention of the project was the removal of the existing walls delimiting the kitchen and laundry room for a new layout arrangement.

The new design aims to maximize storage spaces, but still maintains the division between kitchen and living room, since the couple likes the separation of the environments in terms of practicality and organization. This new division is made through a single cabinet that serves both environments: on the kitchen side, it houses a lighted glass cabinet with fluted glass doors and some drawers for cutlery and accessories; while on the living room side, it functions as a hack and support for the television fixed on the panel. Additionally, thiscabinet also gained a third face on its side, which serves as a small bookshelf.

It is also worth mentioning the dining area of the apartment, which was rotated in relationto the logic provided by the contractor. For this, we designed a special oblong table, which reduces its impact on the flow between the social and intimate area. On one side, the table has two Sumi chairs from Estudio Latino de Design, and on the other, a "built-in" bench on the wall. This bench made of carpentry hides a new storage space, destined for items of greater volume and less use. For greater comfort, the bench has a cushion and a padded backrest, lined with a moss green color linen.

Finally, the project comes to life through a neutral and soft materiality, which reflects the personality of its inhabitants: more introspective people who have the house as a place of physical and mental rest. Thus, the neutral tones are softly supported by the darker wood tone of the central cabinet, by the moss green fabric of the dining room cushions, and by a blue wall in the master suite. But the main highlight of the apartment's materiality is certainly the gray hydraulic tile coating on the access corridor walls, an old wish of the couple.

Situado próximo a Praça da Espanha, ponto boêmio de Curitiba/PR, o Apartamento Ladrilho foi projetado para ser o primeiro lar de um jovem casal.

O principal desafio do projeto foi encontrar o melhor layout para os espaços sociais do apartamento, garantindo espaço de armazenamento suficiente para o casal, mas sem prejuízo à estética ou a praticidade do dia-a-dia.Desta forma, a principal intervenção do projeto foi a remoção das paredes delimitadoras da cozinha e lavanderia para um novo arranjo de layout.

O novo desenho visa a maximização dos espaços de armazenamento, mas ainda mantêm a divisão entre cozinha e estar, já que o casal gosta da separação dos ambientes em termos de praticidade e organização. Essa nova divisão é feita através de um armário único que serve ambos os ambientes: do lado da cozinha, abriga uma cristaleira iluminada com portas de vidro canelado e algumas gavetas para talheres e acessórios; enquanto do lado da sala, funciona como hack e apoio para a televisão fixada no painel. Adicionalmente, esse armário ganhou ainda uma terceira face em sua lateral, que serve como uma pequena estante de livros.

Vale mencionar também o desenho da área de jantar do apartamento, que foi rotacionada em relação a lógica prevista pelo pela construtora. Para isso, desenhamos uma mesa especial, de formato oblongo, que diminui seu impacto no fluxo entre a área social e íntima. De um lado, a mesa possui duas cadeiras Sumi do Estudio Latino de Design, e do outro, uma banco "embutido" na parede. Esse banco, executado em marcenaria, esconde um novo espaço de armazenamento, destinado aos itens de maior
volume e menor utilização. Para maior conforto, o banco possui uma almofada e um espaldar almofadado, revestidos em um linho de tom verde musgo.

Por fim, o projeto ganha vida através de uma materialidade neutra e suave, que reflete a personalidade de seus moradores: pessoas mais introspectivas e que tem a casa como um lugar de descanso físico e mental. Sendo assim, os tons neutros são apoiados suavemente pelo tom madeirado mais sóbrio do armário central, pelo tecido verde musgo das almofadas da sala de jantar, e por uma parede azul na suíte principal. Mas o principal destaque da materialidade do apartamento é, certamente, o revestimento em ladrilho hidráulico na cor cinza das paredes do corredor de acesso, um antigo desejo do casal.
