Description

Lincoln Park
Chicago, IL
4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms

As you can tell by the before pictures below, this 3000 SF private residence was a dated 1990's post-modern three-level private home that needed a full facelift inside and out. The owners wanted to update to a modern warm environment while keeping the good bones of the existing structure. They're a very talented, creative couple with an exquisite design aesthetic and had a clear vision for their home. In fact, they provided hand-drawn sketches to facilitate collaboration with our lead designer, Carol Barrett, and Cory hand-fabricated the elaborate millwork in the gorgeous new entry.

The new exterior has vertical metal siding, and stained wood and painted hardie board cladding. The original two-story entrance was reconfigured to add internal space on the second floor that allows for an open floor plan that includes connected living, dining, and kitchen areas. We reconfigured and added a trellis and screen walls to the deck off the kitchen for grilling and entertaining.

The first floor has a guest bedroom, a large family room, a full bath, and laundry as well as a two car garage. The street-facing windows were raised to provide privacy but still allow for lots of natural light. The third floor has a primary suite with a large walk-in closet, home office area, and a new covered exterior deck, as well as two additional bedrooms and a full shared bath.

The new residence is open and spacious, and filled with natural light and all the modern conveniences that truly make it a comfortable retreat in the bustling city of Chicago.

"We loved working with the Scrafano team and plan to do so again soon on a new property. They are great collaborators and executed our design dreams very professionally.”
- Dinee and Cory
