Description

This Vancouver home offers a striking architectural juxtaposition between its bold exterior and warm, inviting interior. From the street, the house presents a series of stacked, dark brick volumes that create a strong geometric presence, evoking both strength and privacy. The 1,200 square-meter design features overlapping forms, giving the home a modern, sculptural feel.

Inside, the transition is dramatic. The austere exterior gives way to a serene interior palette of oak floors, oak windows, and oak millwork, complemented by natural stone finishes throughout. These materials are enhanced by abundant natural light streaming through large southern-facing windows. The clients, allowing the designers significant creative freedom, requested specific program such as an elevator, two kitchens, a golf simulator, snooker room, and a home theatre.

A standout architectural feature is the grand oak staircase, which spirals around a suspended three-story glass chandelier. The staircase rises to a large skylight, flooding the centre of the house with sunlight while providing a visual connection between all levels. The lower level serves as an entertainment hub, complete with a golf simulator, theatre room, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. This floor opens directly onto the backyard, where a patio, BBQ area, swimming pool, and hot tub offer seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Upstairs, the home includes four bedrooms, with the primary suite boasting a private balcony and stunning water views beyond. Surrounded by mature trees, the home feels private and tranquil, with the landscape enhancing its integration into the lush natural environment. This balance allows the home to stand out visually while remaining deeply connected to its environment, offering a serene yet luxurious living experience.
