Description

CHEESE ETC. was a project to design a bespoke retail outlet for a specialty fromager in the pretty little arcade, High Street Bowral. The project challenged us to design in a compact retail space, maximising display and retail opportunities within the fitout, whilst still allowing space for seating within the space to enjoy cheese and wine tastings, specialty Raclette nights and grabbing a lunchtime toastie.

Questions and Answers

What was the brief?

The brief was to create a warm, inviting space with the use of natural timber, whilst avoiding a rustic aesthetic. Being a cheese outlet, the brief was to create a feeling of freshness and vibrancy, while at the same time capturing the feeling of hospitable warmth of the Southern Highlands. The softness of the aesthetic was echoed with the use of a curved timber wall leading and guiding patrons into the space and taking the edge off the square lines of the room.
