AB&D’s new office emerges from the integration between two neighbouring commercial rooms that were combined in a single space. The project was designed to express the personality of the practice and its brand, while still providing a comfortable working space for the team’s countless hours of work.
The office has a workspace, meeting room, reception and kitchen, all organised around the volume of bathrooms marked by the green colour - the highlight of the project. In contrast to this strong compositional element, the material palette adopted is short and simple, with white elements, woodwork in Freijó timber and cementitious porcelain flooring. Another highlight are the artistic tiles by the local artist Rômulo Lass in the back wall of the kitchen.
The layout of the space is basically organised in two zones. On one side, the hall and meeting room welcome people when they arrive at the office, and, on the other, the work room and pantry complete the program in a fully integrated way. The only compartment of the project is the meeting room due to the need for privacy of customers, such a point stands out, because between this room and the volume of bathrooms ends up forming a small corridor marked by the linearity of the ceiling and its indirect lighting.

O novo escritório da AB&D Advocacia nasce da integração entre duas salas comerciais vizinhas que foram conjugadas em um único espaço. O projeto foi pensado de modo que conseguisse exprimir a personalidade do escritório e sua marca, ao mesmo tempo fosse um espaço de trabalho confortável para as inúmeras horas de trabalho da equipe.
O escritório conta com espaço de trabalho, sala de reuniões, recepção e copa, tudo organizado ao redor do volume de banheiros marcado pela cor verde Floresta Úmida da Suvinil - o grande destaque do projeto. Em contraste com este forte elemento compositivo, a paleta de materiais adotadas é simples e reduzida, com elementos brancos, marcenaria principal e detalhes em lâmina natural de Freijó e piso em porcelanato cimentício. Outro ponto de destaque são os azulejos artesanais do artista curitibano Rômulo Lass, desenvolvidos especialmente para o projeto.
O layout do espaço é simples e se organiza, basicamente, em duas zonas. De um lado, hall e sala de reuniões recebem as pessoas ao chegar ao escritório, e do outro, sala de trabalho e copa completam o programa, de modo totalmente integrado. O único espaço compartimentado do projeto é a sala de reuniões por conta da necessidade de privacidade dos clientes, destaca-se tal ponto, pois entre esta sala e o volume de banheiros acaba se formando um pequeno corredor marcado pela linearidade do forro e de sua iluminação indireta.

What was the brief?

The client acquired two small rooms of 25 m2, side to side, with the goal to join them and build their new office. The new space with 50m2 and two bathrooms, needed to host a working space for 4 lawyers, a meeting room for 6 people, a small kitchen and a hall.

Os clientes adquiriram duas pequenas salas de 25 m2, uma ao lado da outra, com o objetivo de juntá-las para a construção de seu novo escritório. O novo espaço de 50m2 com 2 banheiros, deveria atender a demanda de um espaço de trabalho para 4 pessoas, sala de reunião para 6 pessoas, copa e recepção.
What were the key challenges?

The main challenge was to articulate the layout between the two rooms, respecting the existing volume of bathrooms, and creating a fluid space, integrated and connected. Another issue to highlight is the ambiguity of modern working spaces between integration and privacy.

O principal desafio deste projeto foi articular um layout que, respeitando o volume de banheiros existente, fizesse uso de ambas as salas de modo natural, criando um espaço integrado e fluido. Outro ponto a se destacar é a ambiguidade de espaços de trabalho modernos entre integração e privacidade.
What were the solutions?

Considering the small program, it may seem easy to figure out the best layout. However, the space needed for working and meeting were hard to fit due to their size and the central position of the bathroom volume. The solution here was to articulate them in different axis, so both spaces could have the perfect size. An interesting detail here, was the cabinet that divides both areas, serving as a TV panel to the meeting room and as a support cabinet with a writing panel for the working space. Thus, the room final layout is very simples with the hall and the meeting room in one side, and the working space and the kitchen on the other. They are joined by the bathroom volume, and a small corridor that follows a line of light designed in the lining.
The materials palette is reduced to enhance natural lighting and to allow an easy understanding of the space. The highlight of the room is the green colour, chosen based on their branding, used to paint the bathroom volume and the artistic tiles by the local artist Rômulo Lass in the back wall of the kitchen.

Considerando o pequeno programa de necessidades requisitado, pode parecer simples solucionar o layout. Porém, o espaço necessário para os espaços de trabalho e reunião foram difíceis de posicionar por conta de seus tamanhos e pela posição central do volume de banheiros. A solução foi articulá-los em sentidos diferentes, permitindo que ambos tivesse o tamanho perfeito. Um detalhe interessante aqui é a marcenaria que divide as salas, de um lado servindo como painel de TV para a sala de reunião, e do outro servindo como armário de apoio e painel de anotações para a área de trabalho. Sendo assim, o layout final é simples com a recepção e a sala de reuniões de um lado, e a sala de trabalho e copa do outro. Tudo unido pelo volume de banheiro e por um pequeno corredor que segue uma linha de luz desenhada no forro.
A paleta de material utilizada é reduzida de modo a valorizar a luz natural e permitindo uma compreensão rápida do espaço. O destaque da sala é a cor Floresta Úmida da Suvinil, escolhida a partir do branding do escritório, utilizada para pintar o volume de banheiros, e também, os azulejos do artista local, Rômulo Lass, aos fundos da copa.
