Description

Formerly three separate spaces, but now just one. The kitchen, dining room and conservatory were separated by a large brick chimney breast. These rooms were dark because most of the natural light entered largely into the dilapidated conservatory. Now all these rooms share the light in an extra large open plan space.

The former kitchen and dining spaces were good sizes but the conservatory was long and narrow - and difficult to fit furniture in. The removal of the intervening brickwork - by careful insertion of a steel frame, allows the flexible arrangement of furniture in a number of different combinations in the new wide - open plan space.

The new structural glass roof covers the whole roof, with minimal joins, allowing in an abundance of light. It is now a new bright dining area, part of the whole ground floor living areas - with a super high thermal performance well above that of the old conservatory. An extra large pivot window lets you naturally ventilate the space, whilst allowing you to lean out and cut some herbs from the external planter below the window.
