This young family looked at their two story inner city terrace as a long term family home, so the decisions they made we based on quality. The owners liked a materials and products which were low maintenance and which would last a long time, which is a great ethos in this time when things are so fast moving and nothing seems to last long.
What were the key challenges?
The original terrace house was in a state of disrepair once we started uncovering the structure we needed to repair much of it.
What was the brief?
The brief concentrated on creating a lovely family kitchen, and a powder room and laundry to the ground floor and also a connection to the rear yard, without a big set of bifold or sliding doors. a more gentle indoor/outdoor connection was requested.
The main brief was to create a house for the long term. A house which would last, thought choice of a simple design aesthetic and materials that would stand the test of time.
