Description

Engaged by a young family who had just purchased their first home, the brief was to transform an existing dated apartment into a modern home for the family of three.

Connecting to the leafy outlook, soft muted colours and were used throughout the apartment to create a calm space, while texture was played with through hand made tiles and v-groove panelling to add a sense of depth. Brass tapware from Brodware and joinery pulls from Noble Elements add elegant touches to the home.

With a large living and dining space straight off the apartment corridor a sense of privacy within the home was lacking. To overcome this a study space was added, providing a designated space for the family to work from home, while creating an entry vestibule and a sense of arrival into the apartment.

Cooking is a passion of the families, and while integrating the kitchen and living space into an open plan area was not possible with the apartment shape, the ability to cook and to be together as a family was a key requirement. To allow for this a breakfast nook was added to the kitchen, adding a space for the couple's young daughter to sit and draw or eat while the couple cooks.

The existing main bedroom was a long, impractical space. A bedhead wall was added, and a walk in robe added behind this diving wall. Low height soft green v-groove cladding lines the wall, with two Kelly Wearstler sconces creating ambient lighting within the room.
