Madeleine Design Group recently created a stunning luxury home designed for entertaining and keeping family close. Completed in March 2023, this 5500 square-foot main house with an attached 1300 square-foot coach house offers 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, and a spectacular primary suite. The modern farmhouse exterior complements the surrounding rain forest, featuring warm gray tones and natural stone. Inside, the home boasts a great room with 20’ ceilings, a sleek modern kitchen, and an open floor plan that connects to an expansive patio. With lavish finishes and thoughtful design, this home perfectly balances modern aesthetics and comfort.
What was the main vision for this project?
The primary vision for the Anmore project was to create a luxury home designed for entertaining while providing comfortable day-to-day living for the couple, along with a coach house for aging parents. When MDG was awarded the contract in November 2020, we immediately set to work, collaborating with Alair Homes for the build and Zed Studio for architectural design. We focused on assembling the entire home’s interior package, covering layout, functionality, finishes, and furniture. Additionally, we hired a home organizer to ensure every detail met the clients’ wishes. The result is a stunning 5500 square-foot main home seamlessly connected to a 1300 square-foot coach house, all ready for the family’s move-in by March 2023.
How did the client's preference for a "gray" color scheme influence the interior design of the home?
The client's preference for a gray color scheme presented an interesting challenge, especially given the surrounding rain forest environment and the regularity of "grey days" outside. We addressed this by incorporating multiple tones of warm gray throughout the home to maintain a sense of color, warmth, and balance. In the great room, for example, we used various shades and textures of gray in the furniture to complement the gray marble fireplace and custom metal panels. This strategic use of gray ensured the home felt inviting and stylish without becoming cold or monotonous.
Can you elaborate on the design elements and features of the great room in this project?
The great room is truly a showstopper, featuring 20’ ceilings and a custom 13’x17’ rug that anchors the space. The centerpiece is a gas fireplace, framed with beautiful gray marble and custom metal panels, which adds both warmth and sophistication. Hardwood floors, specifically Savona Hickory by Craft Floor, run throughout the house, starting from this grand space. The great room also boasts a wine wall that adds a touch of elegance and functionality, making it perfect for entertaining. The overall design uses shades and textures of gray to create a cohesive and luxurious atmosphere.
What are some of the standout features of the kitchen and dining area?
The kitchen and dining area are designed with entertaining in mind. Connected to the great room, both spaces feature 10’ ceilings and a beautiful ceiling detail with stepped applied molding that delineates the dining area and hosts a magnificent chandelier. The kitchen is equipped with a high-end Miele appliance package, including a built-in coffee maker, beverage cooler, and a vacuum seal drawer. A sleek modern look is maintained with hidden hood fans and paneled refrigerator/freezer units. The massive 7’ x 10.8’ kitchen island, covered in Caesarstone quartz, is the centerpiece, providing ample storage and seating for four. Additionally, a full butler’s pantry with a reeded glass door offers extra storage and functionality. The L-shaped corner wall of sliding glass doors in this area opens fully to create an indoor-outdoor connection, enhancing the entertaining experience.
