Description

Doryong-dong, where this building is located, is also an area where the Daejeon Expo was held in 1993, and Daedeok Research Complex, Korea's representative science and technology complex, is located.
Over time, the current Expo site is being transformed into a large-scale complex, and with the reconstruction of nearby apartments, the existing commercial infrastructure is rapidly being updated.
This building is located in a quiet housing complex where you can guess the traces of stagnant time on the side of the busy surrounding area.
The architect's willingness to demolish existing houses and create a new space between the commercial space in the North and the residential space in the South suggests the direction of the main building's progress between the two axes of time.
First of all, in order to protect the privacy of family members in the surrounding environment where residential and commercial spaces are mixed, buffer zones (fronts, kitchens, pantry, and bathrooms) were installed on the road side and main living spaces were placed inside them.
Based on the exposed concrete wall supporting the inner stairs, the buffer zone on the road side and each space are configured to be circulated, thereby enhancing the functionality of the copper wire.
The second floor, which secured an appropriate distance between the external environment and the internal environment by installing a terrace along the outer line of the building, was intended to have a tense relationship rather than completely blocking the external environment by installing louver on the outer skin.
The external sequence that appears at first glance between the louvers defines the relationship with the outside and creates an unusual scene.
An internal space, where the external and internal boundaries are disturbed by maximizing the opening, is organically connected to the external environment, reflecting various external environments that change seasons and change over time, and the internal space is expanded to the outside.
The white-toned VP paint that reflects the architect's preference for clean, neat and bright spaces and the contrasting exposed concrete gave tension to the interior space, and the composition of the parking lot is also an opportunity to recognize the vehicle as an important design element and draw it
The minimum materials and calm color contrast were reviewed in consideration of the surrounding environment of the residential area, and the mass on the first and second floors were divided into glass to define each mass and reduce the weight from the entire mass.
The stainless steel louver installed by crossing the staccoplex on the second floor gives rhythm to the mass and the original physical properties of the steel make small changes to the quiet surroundings.
